A warm afternoon in May.
A basket filled with plants. Pieces of silk waiting to be transformed. A long table inside the polytunnel, a familiar space that slowly turns into a place of making.
A simple camping slowly simmers the water, and little by little, the colours held within the plants begin to emerge.
This beloved community garden becomes, once again, a creative space for connection.
Recently, NEST gathered here for a natural dyes workshop in collaboration with dear Tanya Robinson.
We came together to explore colour drawn from plants and nature, to play, experiment, make, and spend time with our hands.
Yet somewhere between bundles of fabric and jars of colour, I noticed something else beginning to emerge.
Stories were shared. Knowledge passed from one person to another. Conversations unfolded naturally, just like the garden paths around us.
As the fabrics slowly transformed, so did the space between us.
Perhaps community is not something we discover fully formed. Perhaps it is something we create, gently and patiently, through small moments of coming together.

Love this!
